Secured credit cards as a method to rebuild credit One thing that follows a person around for years is their credit score. If it’s high there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. For millions of people their credit score isn’t ideal and for them something as simple as getting a credit card can be a challenge. That’s why secured credit cards are available. They offer individuals with less than perfect credit the opportunity to get a credit card they usually otherwise would have no chance securing. |

Getting your debt to income ratio under control Credit cards first entered my life during my freshman year of college. My first plastic way of paying for things gave me a credit line of $500. The closer that I got to that maximum amount, the more the limit increased. It is now years later and I’m lucky to even have a $500 balance on my cards. I’m in debt beyond belief. |

Saving Money Tips for Households Probably one of our greatest concerns here in the United States is capital. To keep it simple, we spend too much of it, and we don't have enough of it. This is exactly why so many Americans are in debt. It's our sad story. If we see some material item that we must have, but cannot purchase with cash, we simply slap it on a credit card, hence putting ourselves into greater debt. |

How to improve your FICO Score Most of us realize that our credit score is something that ends up being very important, even if we don’t pay it much mind when we are young. When it comes time to buy a new car, finance a home, or even apply for a credit card, we often learn how important this really is. Some companies don’t look at the report as much as they pay attention to your FICO number. This is the number most use to determine how good your credit is and if you are worth the risk. If you think your number is low, you have to learn how to improve your FICO score. |

Don't waste your time on bogus paid online surveys It's truly amazing how much business has converted to the Internet. And the more and more it transfers to cyberspace, the more it will continue to change/evolve. This is in no way a bad thing. It's absolutely beneficial to those who work in cyberspace. And at the same time, it doesn't seem to affect shopping malls and retail stores either. It's a win-win situation as far as I can tell. However, that's not to say that every business on the web is legit. |

Consider your property tax when you purchase a home One of the reasons that my husband and I do not own our own home yet is because of property tax. Though we live in a really great area that has some of the best schools in our state, the rate of tax is much higher than almost anywhere in the country. We do not live in an urban area, so this is somewhat of a mystery. We aren’t sure why it is, but people here are paying more tax on their property than they should be. |

Get through college with a credit student loan ou're so used to your parents paying all the bills. You simply live in their house, maybe do a few chores to help out, and go to school. This is your life until age 18. Then when it's time to leave the nest, you've got a great deal of responsibility coming your way. How will you afford to live on your own? You'll clearly need capital for rent, food, tuition, books, and any fun you plan on having over the next four years. |

Non profit financial statements are scrutinized very closely I have been working with financial balance sheets for years, although I am not primarily an accountant. Still, I have a broad base of managerial experience, and I'm pretty handy with numbers. Nonetheless, my new non profit job absolutely baffles me. I had always thought that financial balance sheets were easy, but my non profit financial statements are absolutely terrifying. |

Hiring an investment management company I had never hired an investment management corporation before. You see, I have always taken a very hands-on approach to business. I learned it from my dad – an entrepreneur himself. He didn't believe in investment capital management through a broker. He amassed a financial fortune, and all while doing the paperwork himself. Of course, he worked about 80 hours a week and died at the age of 55 of a heart attack, so there are things about his life that I don't want to emulate. Even so, managing investment myself was a hard habit to break. |

Getting professional tax preparation help For the longest time I was able to do my taxes on my own. This was when my husband and I both had simple jobs, and all we needed was the information on our W-2. This has changed, and I have had to go for professional tax preparation for the last few years. Though it costs me money to do so, my taxes are just too complicated for me to handle on my own. My husband doesn’t have the patience, and we both know that there are deductions that we would miss. It’s worth the fee to us, but it is not the same for everyone. |

Keeping your income tax deductions in order Because I have so many income tax deductions I can no longer do my taxes on my own. I believe this is for the best, because if I try to do them on my own I know I would end up being faced with an audit. I am not the best at keeping receipts, though I do keep good records. However, I know that the IRS would be more interested in what receipts I could produce rather than what kind of records I kept. They don’t care about how honest I think I am, they want to see proof. |
